Yesterday, the group at the newspaper printing and publishing company that I am with held an employee organized get together in the spirit of the season. I say employee organized because the company has declared that it cannot sponsor a PARTY this year unlike in the past, due to cash flow difficulties. The HR Group took it upon themselves to get organized for the December 16 date , after office hours, without requiring a single centavo from the company. Solicitations made from clients, associates and friends were so overwhelming that everyone went home with a gift prize from the raffle. I went home happily with a PhP 1,000 gas gift certificate from Chevron, a very valuable commodity nowadays, what with the escalating cost of fuel. Others went home with refrigerators, TVs, cellphone and cash prizes. The emcee for the affair happily read the long list of donors who have made the employees happy and feel the spirit of Chrismas.
I prepared an outline of my speech , which to my happiness, were all mentioned iby the priest who celecbrated the mass at 6pm. I had in my outline the following:
*joys that the season bring, lights, gifts, celebrations, friendship, family, etc.
*Christ as the center of all that we do and the center of our life
*Compassion for the unfortunate
*forgiveness of those who we feel have offended us
*offerings to Christ for all the blessings that we have received; counting our blessings, where comparatively, we are able to bring food to the table of our famiies because of our work
All those were covered by the priest in his sermon that I was left speechless when Iit was time for me to speak before the employees. I had no choice but to reaffirm what the priest had said and to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
As some of my offerings to Christ, I have decided to send a text message of Xmas greetings to someone that I chosed not to speak to for a long time as well as prepare this blog In celebration of the Season. I also intend to see to it that some street children will not sleep hungry this Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
